A Review of L’Oreal Lumi and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealers.
These two have been highly recommended to me by another blogger (specifically Thumbelina Lillie). I thought it would be rude of me not to try them out.
You need to have 2 different sorts of concealer, one for under eyes that is illuminating and a darker opaque concealer for blemishes. Hence the two product review.
I have given up on concealer recently because my foundation (Clinique Beyond Perfecting) does the job so well. Concealer seemed like an unnecessary step. But I’ve been watching these crazy videos on Instagram. You’ve got to see them Here’s a link. It boggles my mind. There are people out there taking concealing to another level. I felt jealous, so I’m having a go.
The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£3.99-cheap as chips) comes in a tube with a wand. I got shade medium, the lighter one was too white- you don’t want to highlight your blemishes
It’s a perfect shade for me. I put a blob on a healing spot and it’s almost indistinguishable even before blending. It’s opaque. It doesn’t go all dry and chalky when set. I haven’t taken any photos of me using it. I tried but the concealer was so indistinguishable it didn’t come out in the picture.
How I cover spots
- Blob of concealer just on the spot, not too much
- Leave it set there for several minutes
- Blend gently by dabbing with fingertip or sponge
- Little bit of loose powder to set
The L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer is one of those Touche Eclat style under eye luminising concealers. It comes in a lovely golden pen and the product is dispensed through a soft brush. The packaging is good.
The product itself is a bit thin. The force is weak with this one. It is fine for a highlighter, but you need something a bit beefier if you’re actually going to fool anyone into thinking you’ve had 8 hours sleep.
How I conceal my under eye
- Moisturiser, Primer, La la la
- Colour Correction- this stuff is pretty new to me, I saw people doing this on those Instagram videos I mentioned. It looks bonkers. I used an orange cream blusher I had (I’ll probably write a whole post about it at some point). The orange will block any blue tinges
- The L’Oreal Lumi Magique concealer applied as so-
- Blend gently by blotting with a sponge
Looks alright to me. I found the L’Oreal Lumi worked well with the orange colour corrector.
The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is a good budget concealer and well worth the money. Good colour, texture and opacity. 8/10
The L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer is similar to Touche Eclat but doesn’t have the concealing power. (I’m reliably informed that a better alternative is Maybelline Lumi Concealer). You can make this product work but perhaps you’d be better off buying something else to begin with. (Also the Maybelline one is cheaper at £6.99) 5/10
