EBay Makeup Brushes- too cheap to be any good?

Who doesn’t love a bargain? I certainly do. That’s why I took a punt on some eBay makeup brushes. (It’s where I got my Oval brush)

I needed more eyeshadow blenders. If you want to apply a few different shades it won’t do to have just one eyeshadow brush. The colours get muddied. I have in my existing collection a couple of MAC makeup brush sets which I always use. They seem perfectly good but I need a few more, and MAC brushes are expensive. My current eyeshadow brush collection-

There are a lot of makeup brushes and makeup brush sets on eBay for sale, mostly from Chinese sellers. Most things are made in China though aren’t they, maybe even MAC brushes*?  I chose a 12 piece selection of brushes from a seller called 14shoppingservice. Not exactly the most imaginative name, they also sell all manner of car related products. It didn’t take long for the brushes to arrive, I was expecting a bit of a wait for Chinese post.

Natural fibres are good for blending powders. Ideally eyeshadow brushes should be natural. But for £3.79 for 12 I’ll make do with synthetic. And I can rest assured no animals were harmed.

ebay-chinese-synthetic-makeup-brushes-review-photos This brush collection is perfectly fine! The lipstick brush is great. I’ve used the medium eyeshadow brushes every day. They are very soft, perfect for blending. There has been no loss of hairs from the brushes, and I’ve used them for a couple of months. For the price I expected them to fall apart immediately.
Some of the brushes I’m not sure what to do with. There are two really square ended shadow brushes that I can’t find a use for. The blusher brush isn’t great, I do think you need a natural brush for loose powder and blush to really blend it into the skin.

But all in all its £3.79 well spent. I think a lot of the time the money you spend on makeup goes on marketing and packaging. Buying direct from a supplier in China means your cutting out that portion of the cost, at the same time you don’t know what you’re getting

At £3.79 it’s not that much of a gamble, Chinese eBay makeup brushes get my 👍

*MAC brushes are made in Japan, USA, France and China
