The Best Mascara for Oily Lids?

Bourjois Clubbing is a great choice for ladies with oily eyelids, here’s why…

bourjoi-clubbing-volume-best-mascara-oily-lids-smudgeproof-revvew There are thousands of mascaras in the world. I have probably tried 0.05% of them, I don’t pretend to have encyclopaedic knowledge of the mascara world. What I do know is that I have oily eyelids. My face basically produces eye makeup remover. I spent years wearing Clinique’s High Impact Mascara and wondering why I looked so tired at the end of the day. My mascara was sabotaging my face. I liked High Impact’s look and how easy it was to remove, but  for me anyway, it’s not smudgeproof or oil proof.
You see I don’t just need waterproof (handy though it is in rainy Britain), I also need my mascara to be resistant to heat and oil- That is my main requirement in a mascara, volume and lengthening is secondary. But oil proofing isn’t something that cosmetics companies seem all that interested in advertising for some reason. There are Smudgeproof mascaras, I think that refers to the mascara’s resistance to moving when wiped. Which is also handy.

I have an oily sweaty face! What mascara should I buy??

I have found only a hand full of mascaras that will last the warmest, most stress filled, sweaty day. These are Bourjois Clubbing, They’re Real by Benefit and more recently Alchimia Mascara by Lord and Berry. If you’re like me and suffer with recurring Panda eyes, these mascaras could be worth a try. I would describe all three as heat, oil and smudgeproof.

Bourjois Clubbing is designed to stay on in a hot sweaty environment. I don’t go clubbing anymore but sometimes my busy life replicates it. It gets pretty sweaty at a kids party I can tell you. In work too, I don’t have time to check my face very often. I need to stay presentable. I trust Bourjois Clubbing to stay put in hot stressful situations.

I find that Clubbing delivers on volume as well as being long lasting. Here are some before and afters-

Before Mascara

The brush is the fat bristly sort. It’s a little fiddly to get all the little hairs with this type of brush but it does give the lashes a good coating. I don’t find it clumpy either.

  • Price- £7.99 from Superdrug. At the moment it’s in this jazzy “tropical festival” packaging, normally the tube is black.
  • It’s everything proof, no flaking or running whatever you get up to.
  • Volumising and black to the max.

  • Some people might find the brush a bit of a fiddle.
  • Depending on your mascara preferences, you could find the formula a bit thick.

I think Bourjois Clubbing is a great oil, heat, sweat, stress, water, life proof mascara 10/10

(I know I’ve banged on about this Mascara before, I just thought I would elaborate a bit, thanks for letting me bang on)
